Trabzon, Turkey, July 2008
The ancient city walls of Trabzon built in the 5th century BC, stand tall as a reminder of it’s past as children swim in the newly constructed fountains outside its walls. The fountains and trails are now part of an outlying parkway, that climbs and winds its way from the shores of the Black Sea, to the famed “Attaturk” house, actually the home of then, prominent Pontian Greek, Constantine Kapagiannidis (constructed 1903), which is the parks northern most point. The view looking back down on the city and its surroundings is at the very least breathtaking.
